CBI Director General Visits Esteem Systems
9 June 2003
Esteem Systems, one of the UK’s leading IT systems solutions providers, was proud to receive a visit from the CBI’s Director General, Digby Jones, as he visited Yorkshire to present a speech at the Yorkshire International Business Convention, Harrogate.
The Director General planned to visit CBI members whilst in the area to expand the networking opportunities presented by the Convention, and gain a greater understanding of how national business issues are affecting regional businesses.
Digby Jones selected Esteem Systems as his business of choice and had in-depth discussions with the Directors of Esteem on the UK’s membership of the Euro, the slow roll out of Broadband for business, business investment and the increases in National Insurance in relation to the apparent lack of impact yet on the Health Service.
The Yorkshire International Business Convention is the only business forum of its kind in Europe and aims to bring world-class speakers to Yorkshire in addition to networking, corporate hospitality and business education opportunities. The Conference is attended by over 1500 businessmen and women from both the UK and overseas and this year boasted an impressive list of speakers including: Digby Jones, Rudy Giuliani, Cindy Novotny, Stan Davis, Martin Bashir, Miles Hiton-Barber and Rory Bremner.
Commenting on the visit to Esteem Systems, Founder and CEO, Richard Doyle, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Digby to Esteem after his long day at the Yorkshire International Business Convention.
"Esteem are an active member of the CBI and an opportunity to get our views over to the Director General in person was an opportunity not to be missed.
“We had a lively discussion on the many subjects which I think are challenging most businesses in the current economic climate, not least the Euro. As a member for the Council of Businesses for Sterling in Yorkshire I was keen to hear Digby’s view on whether or not we should adopt the single currency.”
