Esteem Wins £1.5m United Utilities Contract
17 June 2004
Esteem Systems, one of the UK’s leading IT services providers, has been awarded a contract by United Utilities to deliver on demand access to information for 7,000 users across several different countries in order to improve operational efficiency.
The contract, worth in excess of £1.5m, will see Esteem Systems working alongside United Utilities Service Delivery to replace existing PCs with Wyse Windows based terminal desktops; and provide Microsoft and Citrix consultancy, implementation and support services. The solution will help United Utilities move away from its legacy platform, and enable them in future to deploy applications quickly and remotely by using centrally managed Windows based-terminals rather than PCs on the desktop.
Esteem will assist with the design and quality assurance process with regards to the migration of users onto a Citrix platform and will aim to deliver a range of benefits to United Utilities, including allowing thin-clients to access full-featured Windows, Web and legacy applications on any device, over any connection. The solution will also deliver the traditional benefits of reduced total cost of IT ownership.
Work carried out as part of this new project will complement the existing Citrix access environment currently in place at United Utilities, and enable them to improve user efficiency and enhance the level of customer service available by real time access to information regardless of location.
With a turnover of over £1.9 billion, United Utilities is the UK’s largest operator of water and wastewater infrastructure and the leading provider of outsourced customer management services.
Andy Harper, Head of Information Services at United Utilities Service Delivery said: “We have worked with Esteem on other projects and found them to be proactive, responsive and extremely knowledgeable. Their skills and dedication have not gone unnoticed and this is why we chose them to work alongside us on this project."
