Esteem and O2 Team Up To Launch Unique Mobile Service Using Citrix Access Infrastructure
4 February 2004

Working in partnership with UK mobile data services leader O2 and Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS), the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, Esteem Systems has become the first UK company to launch a unique per-user / per-month mobile computer access service.

From just £45, a lower price than the average monthly business mobile phone bill, Esteem has combined the latest application access and communications technologies to deliver the service, which will be charged at a pre-determined monthly per-user fee.

The service is designed to help businesses become more efficient and more competitive by extending real-time access to applications and data to mobile employees using PDAs or laptops. The service is particularly of benefit to companies with large numbers of field employees, such as those working in logistics, field service and maintenance.

The service offers organisations significant cost and efficiency benefits, including fast return on investment, the ability to become more responsive to customers, and enhanced speed in activities such as job scheduling for field-based sales and service engineers, vehicle tracking, and parcel despatch and delivery. It uses O2’s pioneering GPRS data network to deliver fast, secure access to a wide range of enterprise application functionality, including emails, reports, customer information, orders and job details.

Alastair Kitching, Commercial Director at Esteem, said: “Achieving on-demand information access has been a priority for many companies for some time and we have worked alongside a number of organisations to help them achieve this. Technology has now reached a stage where it is possible to provide these kinds of capabilities at cost-effective prices, making it essential for organisations to be able to operate in this way if they are to stay ahead of the competition”.

“I predict wide-scale growth in the per-user / per-month GPRS method of mobile computer access to deliver the on-demand enterprise and look forward to further developing our relationship with both O2 and Citrix.”

Esteem is a Citrix® Platinum Solution Advisor and pioneered the use of Citrix technology in the UK in the 1990s. Now at the forefront of technical developments and with a keen understanding of the business challenges both public and private sector organisations face, Esteem is able to deliver the most up-to-date information, fast turnaround and high levels of customer service.

Lewis Gee, Managing Director of Citrix Systems UK Ltd., said: “With the widespread availability of GPRS and other wireless networks, many organisations are now starting to examine whether mobile access to critical information systems can help them enhance the service they provide to their customers. Citrix is pleased to be involved in this project with O2 and Esteem.”
