Esteem Puts Its Money Where Its Heart Is
19 February 2004

Richard Doyle presents British Heart Foundation with a cheque for £12000 from Esteem Systems plc

Esteem Systems, one of the UK leading IT infrastructure solutions providers, has put its money where its heart is by raising almost £12,000 for The British Heart Foundation.

Esteem selected The British Heart Foundation as its corporate charity of choice twelve months ago and members of staff have been organising events and fundraising activities ever since. To encourage its employees to get involved, Esteem also promised to match any funds raised.

Penny Jones, Regional Corporate Executive from The British Heart Foundation, accepted the cheque from Esteem and explained what the donation means to the charity: “ Every donation made to our charity is of vital importance as every penny really does count. We rely so much on the donations of individuals and companies and it is great to see a whole company coming together to support such a good cause.

“£12,000 will go a long way to helping us improve patient care for people we are already treating and will cover half the cost of a BHF nurse to work full time. £12,000 could also be used to pay for five defibrillator machines, which regulate the heart’s rhythm during a heart attack, or two ECG machines, which pick up the activity of the heart and detect abnormal rhythm. We look forward to investing the money wisely and thank everyone at Esteem for their contribution.”

The British Heart Foundation plays a leading role in the fight against heart disease by funding research, providing support and information, educating the public and health professionals, promoting training and providing life-saving equipment to hospitals.

For 2004, Esteem has chosen to support the Samantha Dickson Research Trust, which was set up seven years ago to fund much needed research into the causes and treatment of brain tumours. The Trust is now the largest single funder of laboratory based brain tumour research in the UK.

Richard Doyle, Founder and CEO of Esteem Systems said: “ We decided to focus on an annual corporate charity two years ago and since then we have raised almost £25,000, which is an amazing achievement. The charity project is well supported internally and gives individuals and groups working at Esteem, the motivation they may need to get involved in activities or projects they wouldn’t normally encounter.
