Esteem To Keep Xpedite Fail Safe With £300k Investment
17th March 2005
Esteem Systems, one of the UK’s leading IT services providers, has won a £300k contract with Xpedite to deliver a new IT infrastructure which will ensure business continuity across its global network.
Xpedite helps businesses manage information distribution to and from their customers via multimedia messaging solutions, including e-mail, voice, sms, fax and wireless services. The company serves nearly half of the Fortune 500 companies from 59 sales offices worldwide.
Xpedite’s customers rely on them to deliver messages and information at the touch of a button, at any time, day or night. For example, when interest rates change, all banks are automatically sent the new details instantly via Xpedite’s systems by either email, fax or voice. It is essential therefore, for Xpedite to be able to provide 24x7 services and 100% availability to its customers.
The new infrastructure solution will enable Xpedite to run all of its European operations from one UK site; and will be based on Sun Microsystems and Veritas technology. The combination of high performance hardware and software used in the solution will upgrade Xpedite’s current infrastructure and provide high availability, reliability and scalability 24 hours a day. The solution will also provide full business continuity in case any part of the system fails and increase productivity, enabling the company to send more faxes per hour.
Iain Ackhurst, European Operation Director for Xpedite, said: “The type of service we provide means we need to be able to guarantee our customers 100% availability at all times. This means we need an IT solution that is going to support this and Esteem’s proposal delivers high availability, high reliability and scalability. It also means that if something does happen to the systems Veritas Cluster will kick in and operations will be supported by a second server, giving minimum downtime.”
Alastair Kitching, Director of Esteem Systems, said: “We have been working with Xpedite for almost ten years which is testament to the strength of our relationship. We have an in depth understanding of their business and this enables us to deliver IT based solutions that meet their business needs.”
