Esteem Gets Behind The Wheel Of £500k Managed Service Deal With Scania
12th May 2005

Esteem Systems, one of the UK’s leading IT services providers, has been awarded a managed service contract worth in excess of £500k by truck, bus and coach manufacturer Scania.

The three year contract will involve the design, implementation and 24x7 management of a Citrix-based access infrastructure solution designed to enable business-critical applications to be deployed nationally.

Esteem carried out a proof-of-concept study before piloting the system and will now provide all hardware, software and associated project management for the full roll-out of the solution across the business. The new infrastructure will provide Scania with the stability and scalability to support its key applications such as Multi, which is used nationwide by Scania’s network of dealers to order automotive parts needed for repairs and maintenance work.

Derek Brooks, IT Director for Scania (Great Britain) Limited explained, “We needed an infrastructure that could support our key applications in terms of delivering maximum uptime and consistent service to our dealers.

“Esteem pilot-tested their solution and stress-tested our applications on it to make sure they would perform in exactly the way in which we needed. Not only was their Professional Services team very knowledgeable, they also proved to be dedicated and efficient, responding directly to our needs and objectives."

Scania is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy commercial vehicles and during its long history has delivered more than 1,000,000 trucks, buses and coaches for heavy transport work. Scania today operates in more than 100 countries and provides work for more than 28,000 employees.
