No Time To Relax For Esteem With £265k De Vere Hotels And
Leisure Ltd Contract
14th November 2005
Esteem Systems, one of the UK’s leading IT services providers, has been awarded a contract worth in excess of £265k with De Vere Group Plc to provide standardised application delivery, allowing the group to improve customer service whilst reducing the cost of managing their IT infrastructure.
The access-on-demand project based on Citrix and Microsoft technology, will involve developing De Vere’s existing IT infrastructure to provide the group with the ability to centrally manage information and applications; whilst also standardising business applications such as leisure bookings across 50 sites, 100 servers and 2500 users.
Increasing manageability of De Vere’s IT systems and providing end users with a better service were also key drivers for the 9 month project
The solution will involve migration from an NT4/Exchange 5.5 environment to a centrally based Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange 2003 environment. The new environment will enable all applications to be published from a central site at the organisation’s HQ in Daresbury – giving standardisation across the group, as well as ease of management and reduced total cost of IT ownership.
Once complete the solution will also provide De Vere, Village and Greens sites with enhanced performance for desktop users; increased security of information through desktop lockdown; secure remote access and centralisation of data.
De Vere Hotels, Village Hotels and Leisure Clubs and Greens are all part of the De Vere Group Plc. De Vere Hotels is comprised of a collection of fine four and five star hotels throughout the UK; Village Hotels and Leisure Clubs are the group’s mid market brand while Greens is the group’s standalone health and fitness chain.
Elliot Murgatroyd, Technical Services Manager of De Vere Group Plc, said, “The project brings us up to date in terms of standardising the way we operate for our customers which means we should be able to deliver a faster, more accurate service 24/7. It also gives us easy management of users, applications and upgrades because of being centrally deployed. This should enhance efficiency and save both time and money. This is in addition to the cost savings we will make by moving from desktop PCs to dumb terminals.
“Esteem has provided us with Professional Services, project management, training and on-going support. The company’s knowledge and skill set have mitigated risk for us and we are confident the project will be a success.”
