So the news which many of us have been waiting for has finally arrived. After ten long months, this week it was finally announced that the Dell - EMC acquisition will be finalised on 7th September 2016. The $67 billion deal will be by far the largest deal the IT sector has seen since the acquisition of Compaq by HP in 2001. Once the deal is complete, Dell will immediately trade under the new name Dell Technologies and the brand will include other household names such as VMware, RSA, Pivotal and Virtustream. So, what does this mean for customers?
At the moment, very few know what the future holds for the two companies, Michael Dell is certainly keeping his cards close to his chest. Currently, the product portfolio is set to remain unchanged and customers will continue to receive the same high level of support from both organisations.
What we do know is that Dell has been advising existing channel partners to actively prepare for onboarding the EMC portfolio. As a leading partner to both vendors (Dell Premier Partner and EMC Silver Partner), Esteem is ideally positioned to advise our customers on the complete Dell Technologies range and keep them informed on the product roadmap.
